Last Updated: Jul 1 2026

Introduction

This Privacy Policy describes how Chess Champion ("we," "our," or "us") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile chess application (the "App"). The App includes advertising, analytics, and optional in-app purchases. Your privacy matters to us, and we are committed to being transparent about our data practices.

Information We Collect

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • Personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number
  • User accounts or login credentials
  • Precise location data
  • Photos, videos, or camera access
  • Microphone or audio recordings
  • Contact lists or social media data

Information We DO Collect

1. Device Information (Automatically)

  • Device model and operating system version
  • App version and build number
  • Available device memory (to optimize the chess engine)
  • Advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS, GAID on Android) — used for ad serving and attribution

2. App Usage & Analytics (via Firebase Analytics)

  • Features used, screens visited, and in-app events
  • Session duration and frequency of use
  • General device and region information for aggregate analytics
  • This data is pseudonymous and used solely to improve the App

3. Crash Reports (via Firebase Crashlytics)

  • Technical details about app crashes or errors (stack traces, device state)
  • Device type and OS version for debugging
  • No personally identifying information is included in crash reports

4. Advertising Data (via Google AdMob)

  • The free version of the App displays ads served by Google AdMob
  • AdMob may use your advertising identifier to show personalized ads based on your interests
  • On iOS 14.5+, we request your permission via Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework before enabling personalized ads. If you decline, only non-personalized ads are shown
  • Google may collect and process ad interaction data as described in Google's Privacy Policy

5. Purchase & Subscription Data (via RevenueCat)

  • In-app purchase status and transaction identifiers (to unlock premium features)
  • An anonymous app user ID generated by RevenueCat — no personal identity is attached
  • Payment processing is handled entirely by the Apple App Store or Google Play Store; we never see your payment details

6. Local App Data (Stored on Your Device Only)

  • Game history, statistics, and saved games
  • Board theme, piece set, and sound preferences
  • Difficulty settings and other user preferences
  • This data never leaves your device

How We Use Information

  • Provide and improve the chess gaming experience
  • Optimize app performance based on device capabilities
  • Identify and fix bugs via crash reporting
  • Understand how users interact with the App via aggregate analytics
  • Serve advertisements to support the free version of the App
  • Verify and restore in-app purchases and premium subscriptions

Advertising & App Tracking Transparency (iOS)

On iOS 14.5 and later, Apple requires us to ask for your permission before tracking your activity across other companies' apps and websites. When you first open the App, you will see Apple's standard ATT prompt. Your choices:

  • Allow Tracking: Personalized ads are shown based on your interests. This helps keep the App free.
  • Ask App Not to Track: Only non-personalized, contextual ads are shown. App functionality is not affected.

You can change this choice at any time in your device Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.

Third-Party Services

The App integrates the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies:

  • Google Firebase Analytics — app usage analytics (Google Privacy Policy)
  • Google Firebase Crashlytics — crash and error reporting (Google Privacy Policy)
  • Google AdMob — in-app advertising (Google Privacy Policy)
  • RevenueCat — in-app purchase and subscription management (RevenueCat Privacy Policy)

Data Storage and Security

  • Local Storage: Game data, history, and preferences are stored locally on your device using SQLite and shared preferences
  • No Personal Cloud Storage: We do not upload your game data or personal information to our own servers
  • Third-Party Transmission: Analytics events, crash reports, ad interactions, and purchase status are transmitted to Google and RevenueCat over encrypted connections
  • Security: We implement appropriate technical measures to protect any data processed

Data Sharing

  • We do not sell or rent your data to any third party
  • Data is shared only with the third-party services listed above, and only as necessary for their stated functions
  • We may disclose data if required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users

Children's Privacy

Chess Champion is suitable for all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the applicable age in your jurisdiction). The App requests ATT consent only where legally required. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information, please contact us and we will take appropriate action.

Internet Connection

All chess gameplay works completely offline. An internet connection is used only for:

  • Displaying advertisements (free version)
  • Sending anonymous analytics events and crash reports to Firebase
  • Verifying and restoring in-app purchases via RevenueCat
  • Downloading app updates

Your Rights and Choices

  • Ad Personalization: Opt out of personalized ads via your device settings (iOS: Settings → Privacy → Tracking; Android: Settings → Google → Ads)
  • Analytics Opt-Out: You can limit ad tracking or reset your advertising ID through your device's privacy settings
  • Data Deletion: Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data. For data held by Firebase or RevenueCat, contact us and we will submit a deletion request on your behalf
  • Access: Since we do not collect personal information directly, there is no personal profile for us to provide. Contact us for data held by our third-party partners

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
